Russian universities held presentations as part of the Local Russian Education Day (Local RED) project in the Middle East and North Africa
Education Export Center held the Russian Education Day in the MENA region. More than 30 applicants took part in a face-to-face session at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Cairo. The event took place from 19 to 24 December 2020. 7 Russian higher educational institutions made presentations for Egyptian applicants:
  1. Ural Federal University (Yekaterinburg)
  2. Novosibirsk State University (Novosibirsk)
  3. Tyumen State University (Tyumen)
  4. Kuzbass State Technical University named after Gorbachev (Kemerovo)
  5. Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University (Syktyvkar)
  6. Almetyevsk State Oil Institute (Almetyevsk)
  7. Moscow Polytechnic University (Moscow)
The guests were addressed by the Director of Education Export Center Dmitri Nersesyan and the Head of RCSC in Cairo, adviser to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Egypt Alexei Tevanyan. Dmitri Nersesyan stressed the relevance and importance of organizing events related to educational and cultural exchange in the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Egypt. The head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture noted that today the energy, economic and military-technical cooperation between Russia and Egypt is developing more and more intensively. Our country acts as a partner in the implementation of gigantic joint projects, including construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt, supplies of equipment and railway transport are underway. In connection with the invention by Russia of the world's first vaccine against coronavirus, the use of Russian biotechnology in Egypt is being studied. All this gives the Egyptians a strong motivation to receive a Russian education and learn Russian language.
On behalf of Education Export Center, I would like to thank everyone who made this event – the presentation of Russian universities under the auspices of Russian Education Day – really interesting: representatives of universities, potential students and our partners in organizing the RCSC in Cairo and Alexandria, as well as the Center's national partner in Egypt, the AGES Company.
Carrying out such an event requires significant efforts to prepare information materials and coordinate the actions of the parties involved. Nevertheless, it seems to me that in a post-pandemic world, the future lies precisely with such exhibition and presentation formats.

It should be noted that Russia and Egypt are linked by traditionally friendly relations. They are currently on the rise. A major event of great importance for strengthening interstate relations between Russia and Egypt was the signing by the leaders of the two countries of an agreement on comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. I would like to note the development of bilateral ties in the educational sphere, which is so important for strengthening friendly ties between the peoples of our countries. We are observing a steady upward trend in the interest of Egyptians in Russian education and the Russian language. Despite the pandemic, we are seeing record numbers for Egyptian students since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Each of the universities participating in the Local RED exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa had its own landing page, which allowed visitors to directly contact the university of interest and ask questions about the admission mechanism, academic requirements, required documents, entrance examinations, etc.
